I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This.is the first book I've read by this author. It won't be the last! This is a real rocker story. No hearts and flowers, well, there's some. And there's good intentions. We know about those. I want to love Cody and Shannon ALL the time. But they both have flaws like we all do. The rocker lifestyle does NOT contribute to fidelity, or commitment. There are reasons Cody's family up and left mysteriously 11 years ago, which we don't find out until way later in the book, but it devastated the 10 year-old Shannon. What hurt more is that CJ (Cody) never wrote like he said he would. To a child who loved him beyond best friend, that was betrayal. When Cody showed back up in town 11 years later (we don't know why) and he joins Dean's (his friend and Shannon's brother) band, Shannon has trouble handling it but deep down she still loves him and I think he loves her. Cody has bad problems following him, through no fault of his own. Shannon is a strong, smart young woman. It's a great story. Will Cody and Shannon become a couple? Stay a couple? Survive the lifestyle? Get their HEA? What about the trouble following Cody? This is a steamy book, with hot sex scenes, some infidelity. Some violence. Twists and turns you won't expect. This amazing standalone novel is about Shannon & her childhood friend Cody who left for 11 years & never to speak or hear from him till he returned to town 11 years later. The beginning is sweet & innocent & it tells us about Cody & Shannons childhood friendship. But then the shock hits & things change quickly. The novel is very well written and developed with no plot-holes. The character's are realistic with real emotions and flaws. You will fall in love with the character's & hate them at the same time (Cody Jamieson). I love the way the author incorporated the music lyrics throughout the book. This novel is a fast paced page turner. This novel has many twists and turns and you won't want to put the book down. The novel has a lot of drama, a bit of humour & hot sexy scenes. I hope there are more books to come about the band members Spasm. I would love to read about Shannons brother Ambrose story (Dean's). I highly recommend reading this book as you will not be disappointed. I was given a free copy in exchange for a honest review.
I’m torn…on the fence about Jamison. It started off pretty amazing and then things just seemed to get a little lost plot wise from there. CJ and Shannon have known each other since they were little and were childhood sweethearts. He was her brother’s best friend and hers too. Then CJ’s parents fled his father’s troubles, taking him with them out of the country. Shannon was devastated when she never heard from him again. Fast forward a decade later and CJ walks into a band audition for Shannon’s brother. Soon, they are all reunited.
This story seemed like it had everything and the kitchen sink thrown into it—long lost sweethearts, mob connections, manwhoreness, drugs, etc. It was overwhelming and didn’t leave much room for a lot of depth to the storyline beyond the childhood chapters. And this was disappointing. I love these types of stories for the depth and history to them. The characters were also hard to connect to. I absolutely loathed Jamison at some points but at others he seemed redeemable. It was like he was two different people. I kept waiting for Shannon to wake up and move on. Yet she hung on, innocent and naïve.
I was just underwhelmed with this story; it leaves a lot to be desired. There were spots of brilliance in this book, the author is descriptive and helps you immerse into the story. I just couldn’t connect with the story or the characters. Maybe I’ll have better luck with my next Niquel story since this was my first.
This is my first book by author Niquel, but it definitely will not be my last! I absolutely loved the story of Cody (CJ) and Shannon! They love each other as children and on his 13th birthday he disappears without a word, even though he promised to write! Eleven years later he returns to join Spasm, the band Shannon's brother Ambrose (Dean) is forming. What is going to happen and will they pick up like nothing has happened? There are twists and turns that will make you keep flipping the pages! I read this is one day because I just had to know what happened! I wanted to punch CJ in the throat several times and he so deserved it, but overall I have a new bbf? I can't wait to read more about the members of Spasm! I also love Shannon's best friend, Penelope, lol. She is one feisty chick! No spoilers, but Shannon has some moments too! Hint brass knuckles! Jamison by Niquel is a great duel Romance story. Rockstar, childhood friends to lovers kind of story. It has intrigue, heartbreak, angst. The characters and banter sync well with the storyline.
This was my first book by Author Niquel. It's only the first I hope of many more to come! Niquel pulled me in from the first couple of pages, and held me willingly till the end.

Shannon Moore, all American girl next door. She grows into her own from the little girl CJ remembers. One hot sexy woman with a brain. I lived this book. It was over way to soon for me!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions in this review are my own. I enjoyed reading this heartfelt story between Shannon and Cody. Niquel has written these characters and brought them to life in such a wonderful way. I found Shannon to be easy to relate to and identify with. Cody goes through some changes in the course of this book. The story line is well paced and kept this reader very interested. I recommend this book to other readers.
